An elite mercenary organization for hire in FINAL FANTASY VIII. Their members are Balamb garden students (hence the name), who conduct missions around world as battle support or undercover operatives. Civilians and governments seek their services. They can do anything from providing military support to protecting civilians or slaying beasts. The SeeD is a high-level specialist in high-level.

Balamb Garden’s mercenary force. Students 15 and older can participate in the written and field exams. They must pa*s both exams to become SeeD. The Garden pays seeD members according to their rank. In the Garden, their status is no different from that of the other students. SeeD conducts missions around the world. Most missions involve battle support and undercover work. SeeD is in high demand by groups requiring a small force of undercover specialists. Commissions made through such dispatches are important to Balamb Garden’s income. SeeD battle operations are noted for their skillful use of para-magic. Balamb Garden researches the use of GF in conjunction with para-magic. For this, Balamb Garden SeeD members master the most powerful forms of para-magic.

Gameplay

After the game begins, you will be accepted to SeeD. The game calculates your rank within this organization using a value between 0 and 31 (referred by as “A”) in-game. 1 is the lowest rank while 31 is highest. Your SeeD rank, which is the basis of your current SeeD ranking, is one of your primary sources of income. The player receives an initial SeeD ranking based upon their performance in the game.
