This guide will explain the 4 available “houses” in Hogwarts Legacy. You can only join one house. This guide will help you choose the right one.

Precursor

As a general guide, I recommend that you consider the aesthetics of your house rather than the “house attributes “that are irrelevant. However, the aesthetics will impact your common space and your character’s clothes. Therefore, I recommend you choose a house with a color you like.

The Aesthetics

Each house has a distinct aesthetic, as shown below.

The standard rooms in each house:

Notice how your scarf changes color depending on which house you are in.

Gryffindor can be found in red. Ravenclaw is blue. Slytherin, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff are all at the green.

Every house has a unique emblem. This means that you can choose the house you like most or the house’s color.

I prefer Ravenclaw’s name/color/emblem the most of all 4.

Every Difference Between Houses

Here is a list of every single variation between all of these houses…

• Unique common rooms
• Color changes in clothes
• NPCs will often appear in their common areas more often
• Some unique dialogue referencing your house
• Hufflepuff offers a minor sidequest that takes players into Azkaban.

Gryffindor

Gryffindor represents bravery.

Harry Potter was Gryffindor, as depicted in the movies/books. Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley were also in Gryffindor.

Ravenclaw

Ravenclaw represents curiosity.

Luna Lovegood was Ravenclaw’s character in the movies and books.

Slytherin

Slytherin is ambition.

Voldemort Draco Malfoy, Severus Snape, and Voldemort were all in Slytherin in movies and books. This house is commonly referred to as the most “villainous” of Hogwarts.

Hufflepuff

Hufflepuff is loyalty

Cedric Diggory was Hufflepuff in the films/books.

Analysis

Gryffindor, as you can see based on the Harry Potter characters, is by far the most popular house. Gryffindor was the home of most of the characters in the movies and books.

Slytherin seems to be the second most famous house. However, they are evil, unlike Gryffindor.

Ravenclaw & Hufflepuff tied for 3rd & 4th most popular homes, with only a few characters from the books/movies that belong to them.
