This will be of use to you when planning to max out your Social Links or to ensure that you did not miss a special event cutscene for your favorite character.

Understanding the Social Link System

The social ties system is an essential component of the Persona series. It reflects the relationships you forge with other individuals as you progress through the story. There are 22 social links in Persona 3 Portable, some of which advance in rank based on the player’s progress through the plot, while the majority use a point system to determine advancement.

The Charm social stat in P3P grants a social point multiplier of up to 1.51x, which may be stacked with having a matching persona as the social link you get points for. This feature has only been seen in this game up until this point and is exclusive to it. Therefore, leveling this ability as quickly as possible during your initial playtime is essential.
Since Persona 3 and Persona 3 FES, some modifications have also been made to the social links. Primarily, these modifications involve removing certain unfavorable aspects of the social links, such as the reversal mechanic, which comes into play if you do not spend enough time with a specific person before the social link fully develops. Social connection reversals are still possible, but they are much easier to manage today because they can only occur if the player makes the incorrect decision in a dialogue prompt while leveling up. If you choose an answer they don’t like, you won’t lose social connection points like you used to, and turning down date invites won’t have any negative consequences either.

You can gain points for social links that rank higher in the point system in several different ways, including the following:

Spend time with them (or rank up interaction)
Choose a dialogue response that makes them happy
Drawing a fortune at the shrine
Meeting them during your evening walk
