Step 2. Step 2.

The file we’re forcibly removing is also in your Win64 folder, “EpicOnlineServicesInstaller.exe”.
It’s around one-hundred thousand and nine megabytes. We will remove it from Steam and prevent Steam’s download of it again.

For those who are used to this sort of thing: Make a new text document, delete the original file, and rename the new text document “EpicOnlineServicesInstaller.exe”. Smart guy, skip the last section.

Here’s a quick guide, step by step, that will show you how to do it.

Click the “EpicOnlineServicesInstaller.exe” file and press F2 to rename it. Press CTRL+A for a quick highlight of the file name, extension, and file name. Click CTRL+A to highlight it all.

If you do not receive this warning something is likely wrong. Make sure that you haven’t renamed the “New Text Document.txt” to “EpicOnlineServicesInstaller.exe.txt”, or something similar, and that you have file extensions unhidden.

If you get this alert, continue to be a menace to your systems by clicking “Yes”.

Now, as you did with “Launcher.ini” in the previous section, you’ll be right-clicking your new empty “EpicOnlineServicesInstaller.exe”, clicking “Properties”, and disabling Write permissions for the file under the Security tab.

Now you have an empty Dummy file, which Steam can’t replace with the actual program. Good work. Give yourself a pat on both the back and the face. We aren’t done. 🙁
