Risen Move Old Saves to New Directory After Update

Hello and welcome to this Risen Move Old Saves to New Directory After Update guide.

THQ Nordic also released an update for Steam to reflect the console remakes and Risen. This update brought Quality of Life changes as well as Steam Achievements. The default save directory was changed, and people who have played previous games might be surprised to find their saved files gone when they launch. This guide will show you how to move your saves to the new directory quickly and easily.

Move Your Saves

Hello everyone! After you have updated your Risen copy, you will be able to see that your old save files (a*suming that you played before) are not in-game.

All you need to do is go into your old save directory: C:\Users\Ian\Saved Games\Risen\SaveGames

****Replace “Ian” with your User. You can choose to use another drive than the C:Drive ****.

And move those saves to the new directory: C:\Users\Ian\AppData\Local\Risen\SaveGames

**** If you cannot see the AppData folder (I believe it might be hidden by default), the only thing you have to do is to click Hidden Items from the view tab of your File Explorer, like so:

If you are interested, there is no way to unlock retroactive achievements. Any achievements in the game you’ve previously unlocked must be unlocked again.
