Stalking and movement
To hunt, we must move closer to the animals, to do this without alarming them to start to flee, we should take it slow, in the direction of the wind and when possible, in a higher position in relation to the animals.
Wind direction and speed.
Smell in animals does not operate the same way as in humans. A person walking by on the street may smell the place where they are roasting chicken, and they will know that they are in the vicinity and generally in the direction the smell is good for animals. A tiny amount of scent could indicate the exact direction and distance to the source. Being downwind when stalking an animal is like having a giant red arrow above your head, which says “IT’S HERE, IT’S HERE”.
To succeed in hunting, you must know where the animals are before them knowing where you are.
On occasion, we may be able to hear animals, make calls or even break branches, although the hunter’s senses do not tell us anything.
If we suspect there are animals nearby, we can make a call with a claim to see if the animal responds. This only works with certain species; on the other hand, if they respond, they will be more attentive toward your direction.
The game has six ways to move around on foot, some of which are advantageous. They can be unlocked by finishing the challenges:
* Run
* Walk
* Slowly walking
* Squat
* Squats slowly step
* Creep
* Slow step slowly
Run: It is not a good idea to run in any situation. It can scare animals that are far away.
Walk: Depending on the animals, they will be scared at a distance of about two hundred meters” “playing in hunter mode”, would be the best way to move when we are traveling between zones.
Slow steps: Although they may not hear us as often but the animals will be able to see us.
Squat: This will be the normal way in which we move around an area where we suspect that there is potential prey. They will hear us very little and look at us with a tiny.
Slow, squat-like movements This is the final section of the approach, less than 100 meters from the dam.
Creep: This can be used in the last part of the approach, it only ensures that the animals do not look at us, but continue to hear and smell us.
The slow step that creeps It is extremely slow; it is used when we are very close to animals and have no vegetation cover.
It is almost impossible to move without making noise. The animals will be alert approximately eighty meters for deer and more distance for other animals such as wolves.
To get closer in these instances, it is necessary to employ the ” making you forget” technique, which consists of stopping at a certain number of steps.
When you move, the animal hears a noise and starts to pay attention in your direction until it hears another or third signal to indicate that a predator is approaching, in this case it will flee. We must keep moving forward and stop when the animal loses the first signal to prevent this from happening. The closer to them, the fewer steps we need to make and the longer we must wait before continuing the motion. This should be done by crawling or squatting.
A method to get closer to an area of need is to place a marker on the map that will show us how far are from the area of need and any animals that could be in the area, so we can change the advance mode from rapid and loud to quiet slow as we move closer.
If one animal in a herd is afraid, the entire herd will also be scared. If another herd moves in the opposite direction, they will be scared and flee.
We will know that we’ve scared an animal without seeing it, which is why we hear the noise, and when we activate the sense of hunting, we will be able to see in which direction they are fleeing.
If we’ve scared an animal or a herd and followed them until we find them, they’ll be more alert.
If the animals are in an unreachable area, We can make the phone to help them escape. The majority of calls can be unlocked by completing challenges.
Hunting pressure is an area often frequented by animals they are not allowed to use it for various reasons, such as, shooting a gun, shooting down an animal, or staying for too long in the same place.
Hunting pressure can alert animals when they are in an area with hunting pressure. Hunting pressure will also be greater if several animals are shot in the same area.
There is no indication on the map or in the terrain that indicates that we are in a region under pressure to hunt. Only the absence of animals over time disappears.
